Porcelain Insulator News

Heh, Westerners, note the Show Calendar lists a Phoenix show October 30th. Don't be deceived by the sponsorship of our bottle club. It was the Beer Can and Ihsulator collectors in the area who dreamed up this show and seduced the bottle club into the work of putting on the show. Note that we have the fastest traders in the west and need only one day to gather up the goodies for our collections!

I'm sure this show will be a hounding success and will open the door to many fine shows in the future. Some of our hobby groups just aren't big enough to support shows, but we can have some real fun shows if we band together. If you have the problem of "smallness" in your area, why don't you give this approach a try? Shows are the spice of life.

At Last! This month we are including an INDEX to the Porcelain Column in the following pages. If nothing goes wrong in the magazine makeup and printing, you can remove the index by bending the staples and lifting out the two sheets containing the 8-page INDEX.

For easier reference, I have always maintained notebooks of just the Porcelain Column pages of CJ, but even this has grown to several hundreds of pages now, and it takes considerable time to look up material published in the past. This INDEX will probably help me find the material quickly 95% of the time and should help you about 75% of the tine.

There is hardly any cross-indexing of items in the list, or we would have had to use an entire magazine to print it. You'll just have to read my mind to psyche out the several ways in which an item could have been listed alphabetically. Many items of minor significance are not included in the INDEX. If I thought any item was something we'd have to look up again, I included it.

A number of readers have suggested from time to time that Crown Jewels or someone else publish the Porcelain Column items in book form, but that would be unwieldy and of doubtful reference value unless very extensively indexed. Others have asked that we publish an index. Hopefully the following index will be useful to everyone asking for it.

Page numbers for August-September 1977 were unknown when the index was made up and are shown as 8-77-  .
